Lake Michigan, Kewaunee WI

I was up near Door County during Thanksgiving weekend. Although I love weaving in the city, I really like weaving in nature. I was trying to mimic the colours of fall, which are still present in the city, but the season has passed eons ago up north. I think the colours still blend in with the fading grass, and works well with the sand. Side note: weaving in 28F weather is super _____ (you fill in the blanks), I got frostbite on my pinkie fingers….
We had a reading in class regarding colour in the context of fine art painting,  Donald Judd was quoted in Chromophobia, “The achievement of [Jackson] Pollack and the [other Abstract Expressionist painters] meant that the century’s development of colour could continue no further on flat surface … Colour, to continue, had to occur in space.” I would like to think of my weavings as paintings in nature, not only collaging into the environment’s surface, but also painting into/onto its surface as well.

I love the beach just before winter hits.
