This is where the magic happened: first weave ever on a handmade loom that I built myself out of driftwood a neighbour had given me. This was for my sustainability class in the fibers department at SAIC. We had to construct a loom then weave fabric, no instruction given as to how to do either….
For the next project in our class, we had to recycle or reuse some sort of material we either throw out too much or have a lot of at home. I chose paper and weaved into my fabric with it. The design reminds me of a bird in flight, akin to Marcel Duchamp’s “Nude Descending a Staircase”.
